Understanding PNR Status

PNR stands for Passenger Name Record. It is a unique 10-digit number provided by Indian Railways on every booked ticket. The PNR number contains complete travel details including passenger names, age, gender, train number, travel date, boarding/destination stations, and ticket status.

PNR Status Codes Explained

Code	Meaning
CNF / Confirmed	Ticket is confirmed. Coach and berth number are allotted.
RAC	Reservation Against Cancellation. You have a seat to sit, and can travel. May get a full berth if others cancel.
WL / GNWL	Waitlisted. Cannot board reserved coaches unless confirmed. Auto-refunded if booked online and remains WL after chart prep.
PQWL / RLWL	Pooled Quota / Remote Location Waitlist. Have lower chances of confirmation than GNWL.
